The idea to make this movie came from my childhood memories. As a kid I spent all holidays in the country. At that time my family owned a wooden house at the edge of the forest in the eastern part of Poland, in Podlasie. As neighbours we had local farmers. They were an old couple, retired and spending their time sitting in front of their house. Every summer I was there I could see them constantly sitting and observing their surroundings. It was one of the stablest elements of my childhood – this couple sitting there all the time.

To film their life in front of their house was my idea thanks to which I passed my entrance exam to the Wajda School. One of my teachers was Marcel Łoziński, one of the best known documentary filmmakers in Poland. At the school I developed my idea and presented it to my teacher. The most important for me was to share the mental state of their contemplation of the world with the viewers. The atmosphere of constant observation of the surrounding nature and their own place had to be interrrupted by an important event. What was more important in the construction of the plot in my documentary was to show what will happen after this important event is over.

This was my graduation film from the Wajda School. I treat it as a farewell to my childhood. The following year everything changed. My characters –Mr and Mrs Możejko left their house and moved to a small town. I started visiting international film festivals, where “Oh God Dear God” took part in competitions.

I remember presenting my film in Madrid, Washington, Brisbaine, Bilbao, Zagreb, Berlin, London, Cuzco and everywhere viewers reacted in a similar way. I could feel that they all had warm feelings for my characters. This same as me. Still.
