Artistic Statement

As a  documentary filmmaker and photographer I am fascinated by connections between art and science. By exploring science I find a lot of inspiration.

I believe that every field of science can be an endless source of artistic inspiration. Science is constantly changing thanks to the new discoveries and technologies. Art can communicate these achievements and interpret them freely.In my recent artistic realizations, science inspiration has appeared more and more often.
My award-winning film “The Place” presents work at the meteorological observatory, high in the Tatra mountains. Making it, I was inspired by research on climate and weather variability.My photo exhibition “Patterns” was the result of my residency at Centro Selva in Peru. I learnt there about the Amazon plants and the culture of its inhabitants, so I could introduce them to my work.My fascination with geology and the deserts in Peru (Paracas) and Morocco (Sahara) resulted in the film co-operation with the land-art artist Dagmara Wyskiel at the Atacama Desert in Chile. We made an artistic film “That day we saw the Volcano” there.Presently I am fascinated with botany. As a result, I had my photo exhibition “Triumph of the Garden” and a series of short documentaries about people whose work and passion is linked to the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw.For a few years I have been the author of a TV magazine of popular science for Planete + television (Canal+). Interviewing scientists from every branch of science gives me the opportunity to follow the latest scientific discoveries – which is an endless inspiration for my artistic activity.
